2020.05.20 12:48 CrackBreakfast Reddit legal is committing felony-level crimes in conspiring with white supremacist pedophile women abusers to prevent anyone from saying negative things about them.

The Cumia Brothers - Anthony and Joe, are both public figures. Public figures who have found that reddit legal is far too lazy to do an ounce of research into the broken reddit DMCA system.
For reference, Anthony is the former co-host of the Opie & Anthony show, and Joe is his brother. Both are extremely racist, particularly against African-Americans, believing they have the right to call "those people" apes and n*ggers with impunity. Anthony also has a documented history of molesting 13-15 year old girls, publicly "dating" 18-year-olds and then committing domestic violence by getting drunk and beating the shit out of them.
They're bad people, and reddit legal will do whatever it takes to protect anything negative said about them. This includes:
  1. Original content - Hand-drawn by the users of the sub, nope if the Cumias decide that belongs to them now, reddit legal allows it
  2. Gettyimages pictures - read the watermark, they belong to gettyimages, not Anthony or Joseph Cumia
  3. Reddit posts - Reddit legal literally won't let you link to Joe's reddit profile without slapping you with a DMCA takedown
Furthermore, reddit legal has permanently suspended "repeated abusers of the DMCA policy", while simultaneously giving into any request the Cumias demand. They've also banned several subs now for "violations of reddit's copyright policy". Like such:
reddit.com/onaxyz
Meanwhile pro-Cumia subs (where the mods strictly enforce pro-Cumia content and ban anyone who says otherwise) remain untouched:
https://old.reddit.com/compoundlinks/
https://old.reddit.com/TACN/
Filing a false DMCA is a felony, and reddit legal & the Cumia brothers are constantly conspiring together to protect their image on the internet. Again, let me say that for the people in the back:
reddit legal is committing felony-level crimes in conspiring with white supremacist pedophile women abusers to prevent anyone from saying negative things about them.
Once again:
reddit legal is committing felony-level crimes in conspiring with white supremacist pedophile women abusers to prevent anyone from saying negative things about them.
And any public figure - any butthurt celebrity - can follow the pattern of felonious false DMCA requests to completely eradicate any trace of criticism from this platform. Reddit legal is simply too lazy to do their jobs in this case.

2019.07.30 02:28 Vegerot List of Joe Rogan Experience Guests by appearances (from /r/joerogan)

Hey, guys. First time posting here. I was watching an episode of the JRE recently and wondered who was the most frequent guest on the show. Joey Diaz? Tom Segura? Eddie Bravo? I tried looking it up and found this post a few years ago by jsfly, but couldn't find anything recently. Additionally, I wasn't sure how he came across his information, but it appeared to be a very laborious process.
So, instead of spending an hour tallying each guest from #1325 to #1, I spent four hours writing a code that will do it for me. This has the advantage of (once I wrote it) being much faster, and the fact that this can be run at any point in the future, so there can always be an up-to-date list of podcast guests.

This has the advantage of (once I wrote it) being much faster, and the fact that this can be run at any point in the future, so there can always be an up-to-date list of podcast guests.
Without any further ado, from over 700 guests across almost 1400 podcasts, here are the most frequent guests on the Joe Rogan Experience:

This product isn't perfect, and there's some bugs with it. Please see the source code here for details on that.
It was fun to work on this, and hope you guys enjoy this data. If you notice any problems, please let me know. If you guys want to make it even better, please feel free to fork me!

Edit: I was thinking while writing this code if Jordan Peterson's conjecture that in any creative work "The square root of the number of people have 50% of the results" applies to JRE guests. So I calculated it and found that, in fact, the top square root percent of guests have almost 40% of all the appearances.
That's really cool! That even though Joe has had hundreds of guests, just a few make up almost half the people on the show. Very interesting

2018.08.24 18:58 LegitimateRage PKA 400 Survey results! (Brace yourself)

Welcome to the PKA 400 Survey results thread! This is gonna be an interesting one.. lol
The format of this thread will be simple from here on out; the questions asked will be bolded to highlight them, the data & analysis of the question will be shown underneath and wherever possible a diagrammatic representation of the responses will be attached.

Question 1: What did you make of Tucker as a guest?

Results
So obviously a very highly rated appearance by Tucker overall, however there are definitely a serious amount of very low scores, specifically 1 out of 10s. It would seem Tucker’s rating has somewhat fell victim to the mass outrage that 400 brought (albeit he’s much less of a victim to this than the overall rating as you’ll see). Granted, Tucker turned around this tremendously and will still come out with a high enough overall rating so congrats mate.
Mean average rating for Tucker: 7.58/10
However I think it’s also fair to compare this rating to Tucker’s 380 appearance where he amassed a total of 1 vote rating him 1-4/10 and had an average rating of 9.30

Question 2: Hypothetically if this had been a special 2 guest episode (so a 5 man show), who would you have liked to see accompany Jericho as guest?

There’s gonna be a lot of overlap of the same names here so the format I’ll display these is firstly the most popular responses and then at the end a few personal (uncommon) favourites. What’s also important to note here is the 117 people who went with N/A to imply they did not want an additional guest, 4 people on the show was sufficient.
  • Wings (152) – This includes the many nicknames that have been given to him by now
  • Harley (93)
  • Filthy (28)
  • Lefty (28)
  • Kweb (23)
  • Dick Masterson (20)
  • Literally anybody (20)
  • Arian Foster (17)
  • Chiz (13)
  • Boogie (10)
People that received less than 10 votes: Ice (9), Anthony Cumia (8), Destiny (7), H3H3/Ethan Klein (6), Tom Syndicate (6), Steve Forehead (5), Whiteboy (5), Joe Lauzon (4), Shoenice (4), Joe Rogan (4), TmarTn (3), Blade (2), Philip Defranco (1), True Geordie (1), Jordan Peterson (1) and Hutch (1)
  • A transvestite hooker
  • The Yolo Boys
  • Obi Wan Kenobi (Hello there!)
  • Alex Jones (but we already have Taylor..?)

Question 3: What did you make of PKA 400 as a whole?

Results
Oh boy… Well people wanted episode 400 to be special and memorable, I guess these ratings are pretty special and memorable? Lmao…
There is surely a debate to be had about the validity of these ratings. Was the episode actually deserving of these many 1s? Or was it just a 6-7 out of 10 episode that people wanted to be a 9+ and so perhaps jumped on the hate train a little bit? I don’t know, can’t say for sure.
Mean average rating for PKA 400: 3.79/10

Question 4: Did PKA 400 live up to your expectations?

Results
Unlike the previous question, this is probably a more accurate and fair result. As I said above, it was an episode that should probably have been a 9 out of 10 but alas it was not. Now let’s not overlook the ~100 people who were left not disappointed, or indeed slightly less 8% who had no expectations to begin with. But I think it goes without saying that overall this episode failed to match the expectations the community placed upon it.
Oh well, at least we have the promises from Woody about 401 and 402 being more high effort shows! The past is in the past now.

Question 5: Describe PKA 400 in one word

As usual you guys know you can check out all the responses at the top.
  • Disappointing/disappointed (233)
  • Underwhelming (37)
  • Average (56)
  • Lazy (33)
  • Shit/awful/lame etc (57)
  • Ordinary/normal/standard etc (20)
With over 940 responses for this, I couldn’t possibly encapsulate every one of those within a sensible length but you can imagine the remaining ~500 largely consisted of synonyms of the words above. In case you haven’t noticed by now, there was a bit of negativity surrounding episode 400 :P

Question 6: In your view, what would have improved the quality/entertainment of this episode?

  • If more effort was put in/doing something special etc (450+)
  • If it were a drinking episode (159)
  • Getting Wings on (62)
  • If it were a longer or live show (40)
  • “Make it unique somehow? Everyone meets for an in person show? Idk they get paid how much a month? And the last trip was when? Buy a fucking plane ticket and do something special for your fans, especially for the ones who support you monetarily”
  • If Jesus randomly appeared and kissed someone on the cheek, now that would have made the episode a top 1%'er
  • More unique topics. Taylor did a fantastic job with the Bible story, I just wish there were more bits that were planned out throughout the show... topics such as conspiracy theories and funny kid stories have been killer recently and I would love to see more thought put into those specifically.

Question 7: Assuming both are light heavyweights (77-82kg/171-180lbs), who would win a boxing match?

Results
Wow, a close one indeed! The Australian animals come out on top but only by a narrow margin of ~4% which translates into roughly 50 votes. Forget the episode ratings this was the real debate to be had as a result of PKA 400 lol.
I gotta question for both sides of the coin then; why did you vote for your respective option? Why didn’t you vote for the other one? If anyone does actually answer that’ll be interesting..

Question 8: Which of the 5 senses would you be LEAST willing to lose?

Results
As you can SEE (heh, puns), losing the ability of vision runs away with a commandeering victory here. Understandably so, it probably is the most crucial of the 5 in terms of living a normal day-to-day life.
In a not-so-close second is smell which I find peculiar.. It’s one of the few that actually has an upside, gone are the days of the scent of a rancid fart/shit/shart, never again having to take out a particularly unpleasant bag of trash. Of course sure it would still have some downsides but it seems like one of the 5 you could actually come away with a small W. But the people have spoken and #2 it is!

Question 9: What was the most delinquent/troublesome thing you did as a teenager?

Before I start I want to put a big disclaimer out there. There were over 500 responses to this question. To include even a tenth of that would be a length nightmare, so I’m sorry if your story had to be cut or didn’t get the recognition it deserved.
As usual you guys know you can check out all the responses at the top.
  • Had sex with my best friend’s mother at 17 years old (legal in my state).
  • I have so much stupid shit I can write a short story, I dislocated my cousins shoulder, I cut my leg with an angle grinder, I grinded up paracetamol and snorted it ( as a joke), there is more but that’s all I can remember for now.
  • Made a snowball, came in it, let it freeze, threw it at a girl I liked, jerked off to the thought later.
  • I wrote a virus that replicated itself on the school network that wrote a .txt file to the desktop of the computer to wish my friend a happy birthday (I knew a person like you… He was a weirdo…)
  • I was bullied in middle school, so I threatened to shoot up the school. 3 days in behavioral facility and transfer to a new middle school was my punishment. Don't regret it all because I was able to start anew at the new middle school.
  • Went to a party in my moms car then accidentally pissed in it (How do you do this accidentally..?)
  • Fucked a 26 year old drove her car drunk pretending I was of age. I had a end of year school graduation type thing where I was preforming music on stage, on the train home, it was quite late, I was holding my guitar case while really nicely dressed compared to normal. She was interested in what I was up to so I said "Playing in my band". Not a lie but not honest. She asked me to play something for her so I obliged. We had a date the next weekend so I used my brothers ID, we went out and she was certainly over the .05 so I drove her car back to her place and 8 years later still the oldest person I have had sex with. I know this will show up on thathappened, it was one of the best days of my life.
  • Responsible for generating about a million USD in revenue from a cybercrime ring. Fortunately, statute of limitations have passed and I am no longer on the hook for a couple of decades in federal prison. Other than that, genuinely a pretty good kid.
  • Me and my friend sucked each other off all the time (just for the memes bro)
  • On my Senior trip in high school. As we were leaving the hotel to drive to an amusement park, I went to take a quick shit. I went to wipe and there was no toilet paper (my roommates used it all). I grabbed one of those white hotel bathroom towels and wiped my stained ass with it and left it in the corner of the room. I just left it there.
There were of course a lot of the standard mischievous teenage stories like experimenting with drugs and deviant sexual experiences, however the quantity of those were not enough to beat the quality of the few I highlighted here. And then of course there was the /madlads stuff like “clicked the 18+ button when I wasn’t”, people who got intimate with my mother and “played games all night” etc. A bloody lot of responses okay haha

Question 10: Where do you rank the tale of Samson among the previous bible stories?

Results
Congrats are in order for Taylor then, for telling one of the best (if not the best) bible story in PKA history! If I were to hypothesise, I’d say what made people love it so much were (a) Taylor’s fantastic comedic delivery obviously and (b) the escalation of events that just got more and more absurd. First you hear solving a silly riddle and you’re like “oh okay whatever” but when he gets to tying together 150 fox pairs and setting them alight you’re laughing hysterically. Bravo Professor.
Also I feel like it would be a sin for me to have this question and not subsequently link a compilation of the best Taylor bible stories, 30 mins of even more awesome content for you to enjoy :)
Mean average rating for the tale of Samson: 4.05/5

Question 11: Which of the guys do you most closely identify with in terms of sleeping habits?

Results
Quite the even split here! Well, all except for Woody and his Olympic level snoring, only 73 of you assholes are out there.
Coming away with the narrow #1 spot (ahead by 19 votes) is the contingent of PKA fans who share Kyle’s awful sleep pattern. I myself am guilty of this too… Student during the summer hey it happens. Although the Tuckers of the PKA community and their relatively normal sleep schedules trail behind at a not so distant 2nd place.
Finally (and a surprisingly higher % than I expected) are those like Taylor who find it difficult to sleep in public. This is odd to me, not the actual trait of finding it hard to sleep in public but the fact that for 261 people this was the trait they most closely identified with. Not that they snore, sleep normally or awfully but that they just can’t rest their head in public.
And that concludes the PKA 400 Survey, a bit of a shaky one this week but we got through it haha! Once again thanks for the support and feedback on this episode, it was very fun to do. We’ll see you guys for the PKA 401 results next Friday!

2018.03.26 19:46 janicefan82 Was Vinnie Brand Talking about Anthony Cumia on friday?

If you made it past the terrible TJ Miller interview on Friday, you would have heard Vinnie Brand going off on one of his daughter's ex-boyfriends. https://youtu.be/S9Aud_8uysg?t=1h55m
Anthony Cumia dated Dani Golightly (Danielle Brand), the girl that posted the video of him looking for his gun which got him sent to rehab, and it seems like a pretty accurate description of Anthony.

Artie and Anthony wrap up the week talking about the weird NY weather, gay icons, court dates and lawyers, and Harrison Greenbaum takes a seat to talk about inventing magic tricks and his upcoming comedy and magic show. We look at some David Blaine magic, they talk about unoriginal magicians, Stanley Kubrick, Kirk Douglas, the Austin bomber, Bozo the Clown’s death, and Katy Perry fighting with nuns. Maryjean stops by to give Artie a haircut and while that is happening, we look at video from an Uber driverless car (gone wrong), they discuss hairdos, Anthony “Ms. Cleo” Cumia brags about knowing verdict outcomes, and Maryjean tells us about her salon.

Hey Jim, Can you clarify on what you meant when you called redditors who bashed Opie "cowards" on Joe Rogan's podcast? You got a lot of backlash here for bashing people for using online personas. I was talking about people who want me to bash Opie. They say I'm being dishonest (or cowardly) because I'm not saying what they think I should say. They think the truth is what they want to hear. So I am calling the cowards for always shit talking under fake names. Bashing Opie is allowed, there's no reason to pretend to be someone else. But I do understand that being in the public eye, so we sign up for a tremendous amount of it. The stuff about his wife is just silly, and the guys who write that stuff would never have the courage to say it to him in person.
Hey Jimmy, big fan of you all. Do you feel there is any validity to the term "Gregshells"? If you had to , would you bet that O&A will reunite or those times are over? The validity to the term Greggshells was that he was seen as the boss, and his mood was more dominant. Op and I have had a very big argument once since July. It was resolved only because he picked up the phone and called me to talk it out. He is not perfect, but there have been quite a few times he's picked up the phone to clear the air when he felt there might be tension. I am only speaking about with me, I don't know how often he texted or called Ant ( i mean over the years) or how many times Ant reached out to him
Was the argument about you tweeting about going to dinner after the Colin thing when and he didn't show up the next day because he didn't go? No not at all, that was something we talked about the next day and he told Sam and I that he didn't intend that to be directed towards us (or Ant) at all.
Yimmy. Can we please be honest that Opie is completely over sensitive and cannot handle any criticism (we get it, we're all "haters) so why can you two rip people every morning but he can't take it? I don't think you're all haters. I know people will think I'm just defending Opie blindly, but honestly he does care about what fans think. A lot. He is not indifferent to it. Even back at WNEW, Ant and i would ask why he gave a shit about the instant feedback. He's not good at hiding his emotions, so when people see it angers him at times, they use that. The same part of him that gets pissed off is the same part that enabled him to pull of things like Steve the Whistler while Ant and I were trying to hang ourselves in the corner.
Why do you think that so many fans of opie and anthony think that opie absolutely stinks and is not funny? Opie has always brought out a lot of anger in people, something he acknowledges almost happily. People have the right to not think he's funny, or that I stink, or whatever. The HATE people direct at him I think has a lot to do with things he has said or done that just made them angry. It's really is ridiculous at this point the amount of venom directed at him. You can dislike him, but no matter what he does, he is wrong in certain people's eyes.
When Ant got fired, is there anything you wish you had done differently? No, because what happened to him was beyond my control. I was in constant contact with him and put Hannity in touch with him (at Sean's request) to try and talk to him because he was having a rather horrid couple of days. Anyone who thinks I haven't been loyal to Anthony has no idea what the nature of our relationship is.
Hey Jimmy. Huge fan. What are your thoughts on the hate Opie gets over on opieandanthony? I understand a lot of the anger the fans have. They feel like something they love has been ruined. He gets a very over the top amount of anger directed at him, some of which is totally ridiculous. But to people who hate the show now and don't listen, I have no problem with. You're allowed to think we stink.
The little cunt text was intended to be sent to you, correct? If I felt it was I would say it at this point, sir, I really would. I would have been surprised if I picked up my phone and saw that. And when the argument started, not for one second did I think it was meant for me. It's amazing how hard people don't want to believe that.
Since you guys are having a lot of the same comedians in, why not Big Jay Oakerson anymore? I don't know why it hasn't worked out with Big Jay, there is no animosity. He thinks I don't like him which isn't true. I never felt like he cared too much about me or had a desire to be friends. I never thought he wanted me dead, always thought he was fairly indifferent.
Of all the mma guys you encountered who was the most physically intimidating? Who hurt you the most? How was Fedor, cool or weird? Fedor was oddly quiet and soft spoken. I have found none of them intimidating because they're all really down to earth. Every one of them can kick the shit out of me, but none of them carry themselves that way. If I had to pick one, maybe Brock Lesnar.
When Gregg claimed that Anthony tried to prevent you from being apart of the show, Anthony denied it. Did he do that to try and put a wedge between you two? What exactly would be the motive to lie about something like that? I don't think he said Ant tried to prevent me, he said Ant wasn't for it. I really don't know which is true, it's something Im fine with either way. If this came up a year into my time with them, I'd freak out. But almost 15 years in? It's not important to me.
Do you believe Opie when he says things like "I haven't seen the episode of Ant's show I'm about to cry over"? I don't know if he saw that one or not. He cried when he was remembering their friendship. But i didn't have reason not to believe him, Sam and i saw it and said that, not sure why he wouldn't want people to know.
Hi Jim, big fan. How do I get a girl to toss my salad? And does it make me gay for liking it so much? Sit on her face and tell her she has to eat her way out like a rat in a cage with a heated bottom. And no, it doesn't make you gay. Unless you do it to a man.
How do you not completely stop the show and berate Opie for each of his horrendous attempts at jokes? Does it hurt when he interrupts you on a roll to take a shitty caller who stops the momentum dead in its tracks? Sounds to me like you're biased against Opie sir. And on most days, under any circumstances, I would throw the phones out. But I've always felt that way. Except on my advice show. Where I desperately need them.
Happy birthday, Jimmy. Do you ever reflect on the glory days of O&A in comparison to where it is today? If so, what are your thoughts on where it was to where it ended up? Follow-up question - Do you think the b-b-b-b-b-boys would forgive and carry-on should Stern disappear, and Sirius pulls their head outta their ass? No matter what era we were in, people always told us we stunk and used to be better. Glory days are only such in hindsight. But I miss Anthony being there and of course it's hurt the show. You cannot lose someone that brilliantly funny and not have a huge vacuum.
Hey Jim, What's your opinion on Sarah Silverman and the blatant lie she told in that wage-gap video? I haven't seen the video, but read Al's response. A guest spot definitely wouldn't pay what a regular spot pays, so if thats' really all that happened, i think Al is right.
Hey Jimmy, do you ever read any of the posts in the Opie & Anthony subreddit? Sometimes, but the overwhelming positive response to my act and radio performance gets embarrassing. I would prefer some honest critiquing instead of the blind praise i get there.
We're not allowed to honestly critique though because most of us aren't using our real names. Right, Jim? You can do what you want, beecostume.
What is your opinion on the recent events of the Anthony Cumia and Opie scruffle? It bummed me out but it's one of those things that needed to happen. I'd prefer that to them just both saying nothing. Now they can work on repairing things.
When Anthony gets a studio in the city, do you think you might do his show daily? Is there anything in your Sirius contract that would prevent you from doing so? My contract doesn't prevent me from appearing on any show. I would do Ant's show all the time if he were in the city.
I did answer this, why isn't my answer showing up?
Why doesn't Regular Joe have a Twitter account? Eh, no time for that fancy shmancy tweetin. what am i a bird? you tweet, i'll get down to the job site and do an honest days work.
Happy birthday Jimmy. Can you give more details about your animation project? Working on a Chip animation that is actually going to happen. I don't know where it will wind up though. Probably in my living room with just me watching.
What's your favourite joke or analogy that you've been told and thought "Hey, I might steal that?" Anson Williams when he told us he went out with Gerald Ford's daughter. I figured I'd make it mine and add some ass eating to spice it up.
How do you stay in such good shape? I allow myself to be used as a human toilet. The shame of that prevents me from eating, so I lose weight.
How do you determine what criticisms of your act have merit and what ones are unfounded? Is that answer different when the criticisms come from your own head? I am very self critical, so if people say things I've been thinking, I definitely consider that strongly. Also, audience response.
Is your relationship with Louis C.K. basically like the one you two have on the show Louie? Yes, Louis and I have been friends for about 15 years and we interact very much the way we do on screen. He's a creep.
Why do you think you are such a pervert? I'm really not, and I explain that to every neighbor I intrude (INTRODUCE) myself to by law.

2015.03.14 06:34 ralphisahomo Howard's Comedy

When I think of Howard's radio career, I can think of at least 3 different "stages" of his radio personality.
1) 1980- early 1990's was the "shock jock" stage. The show had lots of bits and song parodies. His humor was based heavily on race and sex. Daniel Carver was prominent, Marge Schott said "nigger" a million times. Howard talked about masturbation, and sex and penis length. It was funny because it was shocking. Before the internet, it was still possible to do that.
2) Early 1990's-2010 was the "back office radio" and wackpack stage. The most exciting parts of the show were when Howard berated Gary, Stuttering John, Scott the Engineer, Tom, and then later Sal, Benjy and Ronnie. It was funny because it was real. Sure, shock value was still part of the show, however Howard didn't do the shocking - it came from the Wackpackers. When Beetlejuice came on the show, Howard was the straight man.
3) 2010- present is the "celebrity interview" stage. These categories are by no means absolute, as there is undeniably lots of overlap between. However, there's no doubt that today's show is dramatically less shocking and less real then in previous eras. The emphasis of the show is Howard, the celebrity interviewer.
Now, I don't think anything I've said up to this point is incredibly controversial. I imagine most people would generally agree, although they might debate some of the start and end dates.
But here's the controversial part: Many people today like to talk about how "the show isn't funny anymore" or "Howard isn't funny anymore." But my question is, was Howard ever really funny?
Thing about what he did in each stage:
Stage 1: He was shocking and over the top. He said outlandish things about sex and race. But is that really funny? Listening back, there's no doubt that it's interesting. But to me, it's not the same as genuinely funny radio personalities, like Artie Lange, Adam Carolla and Anthony Cumia. These guys can tell stories, and make jokes and comedic observations that genuinely make me howl. They might contain shock, but there's also a sense of comedic brilliance. They are not just interesting, but they are also funny.
Stage 2: I have a similar critique of Howard's role in this stage. There are countless moments in the show that make me laugh out loud. But is Howard being funny, or is he just being angry?
Think about it this way: Imagine a boss confronted one of his employees in front of all of his co-workers, and said literally everything wrong they've done professionally, every flaw in their personality, everything that's wrong and embarrassing about their lives. Imagine the worst angry tirade a boss could perform against one of his employees, and then imagine it on the public radio for millions to hear. That was Howard's show. But was he really funny? No, he was angry, and he was real. But it's not like he was making genius comedic observations. Calling Gary an idiot or Sal a moron isn't funny. He's just blowing his stack, ranting and complaining. Again, interesting, but not funny.
The same goes in his dealing with the Wackpack. The bits with Eric the Midget (RIP) were hilarious as hell because Eric was the goof, and Howard was the straight-man. Howard basically played the role of a stern, paternal parent who scolded and talked sense to Eric, who was a deluded and low-intelligent little person. Howard wasn't being funny, he was just being real.
Stage 3: Enough said. Some of the interviews are good, but Howard isn't making funny jokes or comedic observations. He's trying to get down to "realness" of the subject, but it's just evidence of his interesting, compelling mind.
In conclusion: I think Howard is the greatest entertainer who has ever lived. He has produced the best, and some of the funniest, content I have ever listened to. But is he a comedic genius? I don't think so. He is shocking, he is angry, and he is real. But he doesn't have the talent or style of other radio personalities who are able to make me laugh. He doesn't tell jokes, he doesn't tell funny stories, and he doesn't make comedic observations. He is interesting, but he is not funny.

What do you think of all the hate Opie is getting on the opieandanthony subreddit? He was put in an awful position, as was I and Jimmy and the entire staff. I was fired from SiriusXM for what I see as no fucking reason at all. I had spoken out for years (like I had on twitter during the times square incident). This wasn't anything new - somebody that they didn't want on the air. I've been with them for 10 years. It put everyone in a very weird position. They throw me out, now Opie had two choices. Bail, or stay on and do a show without me. He chose the latter of the two, with Jimmy. That's now what people have to listen to that were used to hearing the three of us. Some people do not like it! Some people don't like all of the circumstances of the firing and they feel a disloyalty to the group. I think a lot of that anger comes from that. You're continuing after this corporation busts the show. I've pondered it, thinking "I'm human" or "i'm pissed", or "how else was it going to end"? What was I going to do after the show?
I've had thoughts also that Opie and Jimmy should have walked if they wanted to get me back, for them to say "we're not coming back till the three of us come on".
Or... fuck it, i'm doing a show now and it's cool.
Or... who am I to tell them how to make money and live their life?
The truth of the matter is that the real way i feel is a mixture of all of the above depending on the day. I'm not happy about being fired or that the show I was with for 20 years was so easily dismantled.
I think a lot of the hate comes from the people on the outside looking in. People get pissed, what am I gonna do? People get pissed at me too! I get bad comments about myself! Sometimes I answer, get deeper in a hole, but it's a part of the deal you make with satan.
When will you get a co-host? This has been a question thats come up many times during the 100 episodes of TACS. Easier said then done! It is nearly impossible to find someone that you can sit next to on a daily basis and discuss the minutia of the day. Everything from a major news event to your fucking laundry and make it fun, interesting for not just the audience, but for the person you're hanging out with! It's every day - there has to be some commonality between you, but there has to be a lot of differences. It's not an easy formula to just throw together. I've had great guests on this show - Nick DiPaolo, Colin Quinn, Jimmy Norton, or even someone like Stuttering John was great! So many people say "dude, you gotta be the cohost!" It's hard to tell from one show to see what the chemistry will be like, and if it'll work 1-2 months in the future, and see if it's still fun on a daily basis. I'm not opposed to a cohost, but it has to be the right person. I enjoy the solo thing - I know some perfer a cohost to me being alone, and that's totally reasonable. But until I find somebody that would work out for the long term, we'll have great guests come in! I love chatting with KtC, Rat and Stinky. It's only 100 shows - it's still a very growing item here. Very happy with where it is, and how fast it got here. If a cohost is in the cards in the future, so be it!
How do you feel about ex-producers of the O&A show like Rick Delgado and Ben Sparks? Have you kept in contact with any of them? How about Black Earl from Ron and Fez? I had a dream that Rick Delgado was in, sitting at a table, talking to Opie! I don't see that ever happening in real life.
I've kept in touch with a couple of people, not many. Radio is a lot like every other job. When you're working there, you're with people every day. When you don't have that job anymore, you really just move on. I barely said eight words to Garrett in the 15 years we didn't work together, and now we chill over a beer!
There have been other people that have died like poor Steve C, who was very funny.
Rick, I didn't have any issues with, he fell out of sorts, being Opie's Ex's brother. Makes it a bit awkward!
Ben Sparks is certifiably insane! I was entertained by his crazy banter, I know he still talks to my brother and keith. He's a wacky guy, he and psycho mark.
I guess I was much more at odds with management and not who we were working with. I could not fucking stand having to deal with Steve Bladder working at Sirius XM. I had a problem with him - not at a personal level, I just don't think he appreciated what we were doing at the show. I never felt respected with him, and felt like I was supposed to give him the utmost respect.
I really honestly think that you can talk to anyone for the most part that I've worked with and I don't think they'd say bad things about me, and vice versa.
Danny ross aside.
ME: What has your experience been like doing your own show from ‘the compound’ thus far? What are some of the unforeseen challenges that you have faced, and what has been rewarding in ways that you would not have anticipated prior to the undertaking? I was petrified to do this. I wouldn't have started this on my own if I still had a job at SiriusXM. I was making a good paycheck. I was building and using this studio every so often as a hobby. I love broadcasting and technology - it was just fun to do. Drunk karaoke, shit like that. I never had the confidence to think I could do this as a job and make a success of it.
That's still to be seen!
I couldn't be happier with the way it's going and progressing after only 100 shows. I was fired July 4. By the beginning of August, we were up and running. I had the studio, had an idea of what to do, but knew nothing of how to get it out to the fans, how to monetize, and how to get the right people in place to get it work. People i could trust in my house on a daily basis!
The way it progressed over 100 shows - couldn't have pictured it - very excited for what the future will bring. I can't wait for spring to get out by the pool and do shows from out there. More location shows!
We already did a freaking remote from a casino with fans and it went off without a hitch! I couldn't have asked for more, and it wasn't something we could do at SiriusXm with the roadblocks. I was incredibly happy we were able to do that so quickly. A lot more of that is coming! I'm very excited about this - it's a lets try new things and lets have fun doing this kind of show.
How is the situation with the Patrice benefit next month? Is there a chance you will make an appearance? There is a Patrice benefit, which has gone on every year since his demise. This year in February there is another. I have not been invited, but I don't know if that's a snub or politics or a personal problem. I have been instructed by KtC to give Bill Burr a call. I am scared! I love Bill. Bill has given us some of the best radio ever over the years. He is a very talented comic, and very fucking funny and quick witted. And a great actor, also! But there is something about him that frightens me, and I think he is mad at me. I don't even know! I think he's mad at me for what happened that brought my firing, or what he heard second and thirdhand about what happened that brought about my firing.
Regardless of which one these are, I'M SCARED! But I have to pick up the phone and talk to Burr at some point. WHY DO I HAVE TO?! KEITH?!
So maybe it'll be one of those last minute things. As of right now, I do not have an invitation to the benefit.
How is your relationship with Opie now, and would you ever get together on another medium for a show? Our relationship right now is in a very weird place. We had done radio together for 20 years, and that was pretty much a daily get-together. Over the years, we had grown into two remarkably different people, and I think things that each-other did that annoyed us became a lot more pronounced. We didn't get into any huge arguments besides the 2 on air. As time went on, like any relationship, it just became tougher. We weren't as close as we were at the beginning. Once I got fired, I think we both just decided to spend some time away. Even through the firings, we would talk/text/email. With this circumstance, I knew I was out of that picture, and we just really didn't talk. We've had a couple of text conversations, also the stress and strain of having to change the show on his show and come up with a show on my side gave us little chance to wax fantastic about the olden days of radio!
The relationship is fine, but we really haven't spoken about it.
Do you plan to create a Carolla like Podcast network and if so, do you ever envision it being free rather than subscription based? I absolutely want to make a network out of this. We've approached and are in discussions with certain personalities regarding this venture! I'm amazing with my legal jargon!
As far as the subs go, I would love to be able to just put a free show out there. I can't while others can - I don't need a sponsor holding over my head what I said or want to say. I never want to second guess what's gonna come out of my mouth when discussing race or sexuality or women's rights or any other subject that will get you thrown in PC jail. Sponsors are like parents for your show! If they get mad at you, they can hurt you. I just never want that. Knowing that it's sub based, whoever watches wants to watch, knows what to expect, and I'm not being blackmailed to watch what I'm saying.
Also - I will keep the price very low and try to add shows and material that I think is exactly what the subscribers are asking for. Quid Pro Quo motherfucker!
Ant, what is the one thing that sticks out as the most cringe/horroself hatred inducing moment of the O&A show? There's a couple! Early on, at AAF, anything I said!
So hard to listen to now because I was so happy to be there, and just be doing anything but construction work that I would blurt out, laugh too much, just to be on the air and talk. very embarrassing!
As far as modern day stuff, when I would heat up, with a guest talking, I would feel my face heating up about what was going on.
When I fell asleep on the air, it was really embarrassing. i was probably hungover. Just fell asleep! They put the mic under my nose, and left the studio. Very embarrassing.
Having to strap on padding so I could go to a golf course and get golf balls hit at me.
The bra bombing when we said we were dropping bras full of water balloons on an enemy station. I can't even say it now it's so silly!
Ya gotta get here from there, so I'm sure in the next 100 shows there'll be plenty of embarrassing moments.
What are your honest thoughts on Sam Roberts? Sam Roberts - I like him a lot. I think he is very talented. He is brash. He's very motivated too. Perceptive. He's able to take things he sees and turn it into on-air material. That's the name of the game! He'll do very well. He's likeable, not so much to reddit - but to regular people, yet he's abrasive enough. People that can get away with saying some pretty nasty things because they are so likeable go very far. I've seen some of the most horrible things i've ever heard come out of Louie CK's mouth - and he's one of the most adored comedians in the country! He's never getting called out on un-PC things he says (he shouldn't!) - that kind of personality helps in comedy and radio.

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! I'm finally back from the boondocks (well, Wisconsin) and despite how it looks outside, the Christmas season is approaching fast. If you can't find something festive to do this weekend, then I should probably start considering other hobbies!
I've written a bit recently that it seems the more I do this, the more events I find and the longer this takes to put together. I half feel like I'm letting you down by omitting things for times sake. Counter-intuitively, the next few weeks I'll be posting only the highlights - the top 15 or 20 events of the week - to allow me the time and energy to build out a website and get some processes in place. I hope you stick with me and I promise it will be worth it in the end. If your already a member of the email list, I'll be sending out updates as I go. For everyone else, please feel free to follow along at NoPlansNoProblem.com.
If I missed anything, let me know and I'll get it added as soon as I'm able. Otherwise, As always, Have a great weekend!

2014.07.17 04:22 akadmks1 On Racism & False Equivalency

Just needed to get this out...figured this was as good a place as any.
So today I was checking the comments to a post on VSB and ran across comment #1 (below). Then just a few hours later I see comment #2 (below).
Sometime's it's just exhausting that if racism isn't BLATANT, SCREAMING, IN YOUR FACE, that some people just don't get it. And even when it IS, some people will STILL try to justify it (see:Anthony Cumia) In addition, they try to create false equivalencies and use that as the foundation of their argument--that when black people try to uplift their people and their culture, because of the fact that we have been EXCLUDED from mainstream society for hundreds of years, that equals racism. The "what if there was a WHITE Entertainment Television" argument, ignoring the fact that the vast majority of the media is created by whites, for whites, starring whites, owned by whites, with mostly whites in decision making positions. So basically everything that's not BET IS in fact WET.
Sometimes I just want to read them a definition and learn them real good. "The false equivalence fallacy occurs when someone falsely equates an act by one party as being equally egregious to that of another without taking into account the underlying differences which may make the comparison patently invalid."
I'm rambling and I'm not even sure I have a point here, but I just had to get that out. #endrant

Comment #1: ok.. so basically I now work in an upper level executive position in the lily whitest fields of corporate America in the south. When I accepted the position, I had already booked my trip to essencefest. Our leadership meeting was booked the following week, so I would not be available for the first 2 days due to the vacation. fast forward, they fired my hiring VP. and I have to update the new VP on the items he will need to present in my absence. He keeps trying to figure out 'what the big deal is" about missing it.. and apparently Google's it. so in our weekly update meeting we have the following convo Him: "so I read that this festival is one of the biggest ones with only African American performers". Me "that sounds about right, im excited to finally see Prince in concert. So on the calendar I put together for the presentation, its color coded by ... he interrupts" HIm "so there will only be people of color present and performing.. awkward laughs "no whites allowed huh". laughs again. we've come a long way huh" Me "who is we" him "oh I was just joking around, im saying, its funny in a way how certain things work in reverse now" Me:tries to get back to the presentation cause I KNOW where this is headed hmm. well on the second tab I have included trade shows and materials with due dates him: "not that its an issue for me. but I ya know if white people had a festival that was "whites only" it would be seen and labeled as racist. Me: yes. because it would be. him: you don't think thats un fair Me: no HIm care to explain Me: nope Him. are you upset? I mean im just having conversation don't get angry about it Me: no, im not angry, just not really interested in holding the conversation right now. maybe we can table it for another day? Him. well since you're obviously upset we can drop it. Me: im not upset. Him: Its okay, didn't mean to step on any toes, didn't realize you were so sensitive. I laugh. "Yeah. Iam a bit too sensitive about the comparison of a primarily African American event to a history of jim crow laws that treated "people of color" as less than human. but ya know. im working on getting better about it. he awkwardly laughs.. now on the second tab you said...

Comment #2: I feel sorry for these women and their families. I hope they are all found safe and healthy.
That being said, racism is clearly alive and well in America. If there was such a thing as the "White and Missing Foundation" that ONLY concerned themselves with missing white women, people would be screaming "RACISM!" from the rooftops. But the "Black and Missing Foundation" is perfectly acceptable. What if there was a publication called the "Atlanta White Star"? Same thing. I don't want ANYONE to be missing. You want to say "missing white women get more media coverage than black women" but I'm not so sure. I find the hypocrisy to be incredible here.

What are your thoughts on Al Haymon and how he "protects" his fighters? Anyone in this business knows you have to match your fighters smart, sometimes people see this as "protecting" them. I am not into that politics of the game, if that is what he does. I am worried about Iron Mike Productions!
I am a promoter as well and if you watch the last fight for my boxer Mendez, you'll see that he was hit after the bell. I believe in fighting for your fighters - I fought to get the belt back for him and this upcoming rematch Thursday night. You have to protect your fighters.
I don't talk negative about anyone, I just want to the best fighters fight the best fighters in the world.
Hey Mike, how has New York changed since you were growing up? Too many people, so many cameras, it's just overwhelming.
I even went to my old neighborhood, it was a dangerous neighborhood growing up - now there is a Whole Foods down there - they are building the neighborhoods up now, there is no more ghettos.
Sometimes I go to my old neighborhood, and think to myself was my whole life a lie - you don't see the bunch of guys hanging out on the corner anymore, now you see a whole bunch of white people.
Hi Mike! Thanks for doing this. It is not as good as it could be. I think once promoters start putting their fighters in fights they might lose, it will bring out the best in boxing. The sport has to improve at giving the fans what they want. Too many promoters promote fighters, but I want to promote boxing.
What is your opinion on the current state of heavyweight boxing (or boxing in general), is it in a good place or not? My fighter Mendez might lose on Thursday night, but I want to give boxing fans good entertaining boxing. As long as the fans are entertained I am happy.
How do you feel about O & A's Anthony Cumia being fired by Siriusxm? Do you think he is racist? In life we all say things we know we shouldn't have said, and sometimes we put it into a context where people absorb it different ways.
I don't think he is a racist, but who am I to judge? People say a lot of bad things about me and my past, but we must learn from mistakes and our history.
Mike, got any words of advice to kids / teens who want to take up boxing? You have to be dedicated, you have to have a monogamous relationship to it. You have to be dedicated to it and have to respect it.
I have a fighter Erikson Lubin who displays all of these characteristics, it is his life - I tell him this all the time. He has to be married to it and dedicated to it.
Mike Tyson!! Big fan Mike not only of you as a fighter but you as a person as well. How close were you with Tupac? What's your favorite memory of him? He was a really good guy, really nice guy, really close good friend of mine. Favorite memory was when I saw him in a club and he got on the mic and really took over the party - he was 19 years old then.
Iron Mike, honored that you might be reading this - huge fan of yours brother. Now that you're making the transition into promoting, how will your philosophy differ from those who promoted your fights as an athlete? Basically I want to match my fighters against guys of equal quality. I think those make the best fights, I just want to give fans exciting fights. They need to matched up evenly and need to be action fighters, guys that throw a lot of punches.
Do you think you can beat Buzz Aldrin's AMA that is running in parallel? I probably won't... I have never gone to the moon.
If Buzz had got into the ring with me I could have sent him to the moon without the rocket ship.
Hey Mike, Big fan. Going to meetings, having a sponsor and staying away from old places, people and things.
As a borderline alcoholic myself, what helped you the most on your road to recovery from addiction? Also working on spirituality and a lot of praying.
Hey Champ, As a former professional athlete that was suspended from boxing after your biting incident, what are your thoughts on Luis Suarez getting suspended from the World Cup for his habit of biting opponents? What drives highly competitive athletes to bite? Is it all instinct? Intimidation? Do you think he got what he should have, with regards to suspension (he's done it THREE times)? I think it is just the heat of the moment, really hot blooded and really competitive. The heat of the moment takes over us, we are really competitive and lose bad judgement in our thinking. Sometimes you can just become highly frustrated.
How have concusions and head blows affected your health after retirement? I have no idea, maybe I am able to speak better now.
I went in talking funny and came out talking funny!
Hey Mike, do you still do much with pigeons? Are there any other birds you're into? I still have my Pigeons, about 2500 still. Only Pigeons though - no other birds.
How was it working with the WWE and how do you feel about being in the Hall of Fame? Working with the WWE was a life saver. I am the only boxer to be in the WWE HOF as well as the boxing HOF.
What are some of the most important things that you've learned in life? You have to be humble in life, and if you are not humble, life will make you humble.
What kind of training do you do? Weights, cardio, drills? Pretty much all of that stuff, simple stuff now.
Hey Mike. Lets be honest here, you used to be a scary ass dude. You've said recently that that was just an act but I'm curious, was it? Or did you simply mellow with years? Combination of both. Intimidating my opponents was one of my tactics, but I have mellowed over the years.
What is your biggest achievement in life? Stop drinking and using drugs.
And being a present father.
Mike could you explain the face tattoo for us? It is the Maui symbol from the ancient native warriors.
I've recently started training at a boxing gym. What workouts did you like for working head movement and defense besides sparring? Just having someone throw punches at your head and you can't throw back - that is how you develop good defense.
Iron Mike! How was it to hit Zach Galifianakis? Well I didn't really hit Zach, but he is a good sport.
What's your favorite song to sing to? Oh man...
Any song really, nothing in particular.
When you were younger what was your dream? To be heavyweight champion of the world.
Hi Mike! Thanks for doing this AMA. I'd like to ask, what makes a good fighter in your opinion? His determination and desire to be the best in the world.
Hey champ, do you think you could have taken Dredrick Tatum in a fight? No I can't beat anyone anymore.
I have never caught a AMA within minutes of it being posted. I finally do, and I can't think of anything amazing to ask. So, Mike, what did you do for 4th of July weekend? Nothing, I was working - headed down to Miami to work for my upcoming fight.
Are we gonna see you in another Comedy Central Roast? You never know...
Do you regret telling that guy you were going to eat his children? Yeah I guess I do.
Hardest opponent you've faced inside and outside of the boxing ring? Me, Mike Tyson.
My question is have you been able to defeat yourself in the game “Mike Tyson’s Punch Out?” Never ever!
I have lost to Glass Joe before.
Is there anything you've seen written or said about yourself in the media that you want everyone to know is absolutely not true? The part where they say I am a bad person.
Hello Mr. Tyson, Who do you think does the best impression of you? Thanks! Maybe Jamie Fox.
Hey Iron Mike. I'm old enough to have seen your whole career. You were an amazing and punishing boxer. Who was the toughest opponent you ever faced? Probably Holyfield and Razor Ruddock.
Considering that you guys are on good ground now, do you and Evander Holyfields joke about the ear incident that happened decades ago? Nah not really.
Hey mike, big fan here and love what you've done for the sport as well as your recent involvement in MMA and pranking dana on his plane. My question to you is this; why do you love MMA so much? Because it is real raw and exciting.
Hey Mike, huge fan here. If you could step in the ring with any fighter in history, who would it be? Thank you for doing this, glad to know you're still doing what you love. Me of course - Mike Tyson.
Hello Mr. Tyson! I have a friend, huge fan, who wanted me to ask you a couple questions, and I'm just as eager to hopefully see an answer! I think he would have done well in any era.
There's a lot of talk that Wladimir Klitschko has been reigning heavyweight champ for so long because there aren't any good heavyweight fighters left. Do you think this is the case or do you think Klitschko would still have been a formidable heavyweight champion even in the golden age? Floyd, I don't know. He has beaten everyone he has fought. He is the cream of the crop.
It seems like a lot of people also question the legitimacy of Floyd Mayweather's undefeated record accusing him of cherry-picking his fights, what's your opinion on him? I would love to see him fight Pacquiao though.
Mike, my family and i used to get up in the middle of the night (Europe) to watch you fight. It was worth it. You had anger, but beside that. What is your main motivation tips for people to achieve great things? Stay dedicated.
There are so many questions I want to ask, but what's your favorite punch or combo? My favorite combo you deploy is the right hook to the body to right uppercut. It's so devastating and fast. Before they can react to the body blow, you've already knocked their teeth out! I throw it real fast because my objective is to hear those two punches sound as close to one as possible. My intention is to knock him out, but my objective is to make the two punches sound as close to one as possible.
Blessed by Mike Tyson at Birth: Hi Mike, I have a question about a story I've been telling people my whole life. Let me start by saying this is a second-hand account, as i was in the womb at the time. 1 day before my Mother went into labor in Los Angeles, 1988, she was rushed to the hospital by my Dad. Unable to find help at the front door, my Dad ran into the hospital looking for a wheelchair, and a nurse to assist my pregnant mother. As the story goes, he turned a corner to see you with two friends, or members of your entourage. Instantly recognizing you, he yelled "Mike, Mike.. my wife's about to give birth, can you help?" You immediately found a nurse, got my mother a wheelchair, and before you left, you touched my Mother's stomach and said "everything's going to be alright. He'll be a fighter, I know it." I've always been a big supporter of yours because you helped bring me into this world, and I'll be forever grateful for that. My question for you is... do you remember this happening? I've been curious my whole life. Alex I'm going to have to be honest with you, I don't remember that my friend, but thank you very much.

Gavin, thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. I think it was Iowa Hawk who said his problem with House of Cards is it portrays politicians as Machiavellian geniuses but they're really just ruthless assholes with low IQs.
My buddy and I love your opinion on the state of things, whether it is the word "bossy" or just people being assholes in general, especially politicians. Your harsh commentary is refreshing. Do you find it liberating to be the voice of reason when so many pundits are clearly bought and paid for? It's a good time to be a writer. People are scared to fucking criticize the president for crying out loud. It's like high school spirit pussies with shirts of their principal.
I agree with everything you say about men..but what advice do you have to be a cool lady? Don't get more tattoos than the square footage of your fist. You can spread out a bunch of little ones or get a big one but stop covering your entire leg in a squid. Also, don't give it out to every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Don't fuck a dude until the 3rd date unless you're POSITIVE this is the one. Know your ovaries don't last forever. At 30 the hourglass turns upside down and by 35 it's real tough to have a baby (before giving me some anecdotal evidence about your aunt who had a baby at 40, talk to your doctor about what happens the most often). If you're with a loser at 29, cut him loose because you are running out of time. Don't get all caught up in a career if you're not feeling it. Being a housewife is not selling out. It's the most noble profession there is. You're shaping lives. also, wear high heels as much as possible and don't cut your hair short. When we fuck you from behind we see a little boy. Same with when we're making out and we hold your short-cropped hair. It feels like a dude. That's rape.
Seriously, why are you such a fucking asshole? Scottish genes. After 800 years of getting invaded by the English we developed a tendency to enjoy conflict. The ones who didn't like trouble are extinct. I'm not happy unless I'm galloping on a horse and screaming FREEEDOM with my face painted blue. Seriously though, there are scientists who believe the Scots have some kind of genetic need to be in a bad situation. That's why they drink so much.
Fair enough. I figured someone was just always pissing in your cornflakes. Yeah. Tried it. It doesn't make you grumpy but piss BURNS your mouth like a motherfucker. What does make you grumpy is having something up your ass. That saying is accurate. On the way to this shoot, I was in a horrible mood. Link to youtu.be
I heard you on Adam Carolla's podcast last night! Truly awesome! What was it like shooting the shit with Carolla? Awesome but I thought we'd be best friends after. I went up to him and said, "Oh shit, we didn't talk about Windy City Heat" and he goes, "I never talk about that movie" then he thanked me for being on the show and left. I thought doing someone's show was like getting friend-married. It's almost like rich, successful people have their own lives or something.
Don't forget to answer my question! Haha. WHERE EXACTLY DO YOU PUT THE BOMP? Listen up 1 2 listen up 1 2 3 go. In the butt.
A while ago I finished your book, Death of Cool. As a youngster, it helped put to bed a lot of the fear I have about becoming older, in the sense that you proved that life can be made your bitch at any given moment, depending on your passion. So I'd like to thank you for that. Having kids makes you a real adult. Don't do it too soon but how long does it take you to sow your wild oats? I started drinking at 14 so by 34 I was like, "Okay, I get it." I also knew I was done fucking random chicks when I caught myself pumping her to the tune of a ska song. I got married soon after that.
I'd also like to ask: is there any specific point that you feel you turned into a real adult? How did that feel? If you could re-do your youth, what would you do differently, if anything? The goal of "Death of Cool" was to say to all the Still Alive Dash Snows out there: Don't quit. The party years are awesome years but that's just one stage of your life. You have a whole other life starting when you become a dad.
Any advise on getting back an ex? Or do I just need to man the f*ck up and move on!? The SECOND, she says, "I just feel like maybe you and I are…" storm out of the room and cut off all contact. If she's ever going to fuck you again it will because you did that and she sees you at a party a year later. DO NOT CALL HER. Delete her number. If you call her while you're wasted and cry, kill yourself immediately after.
Bonus Question: Have you ever heard of the Joe Rogan Podcast? Any interest on being on it? I have heard Joe Rogan's show. I love what he did to Carlos Mencia for stealing jokes. We need more guys like that in the world. Stop acquiescing that's not what we're here for. We're here to call bullshit on liars.
Hi! What advice would you give other people who would like to start an acting career? Theater-acting education or film-acting education? Go to an acting school at all? Move to LA? Don't go to school. Don't move to LA. Just make YouTube videos. If you're good, you'll get discovered. Or maybe don't choose such a stupid fucking vocation. What else do you want to be a rock star? Grow up. We don't need more actors. Hollywood recycles the same 7 guys. Learn a trade.
What's an old guy supposed to do if he has no urge to procreate? Keep partying? At what point does this become pathetic? You become pathetic if you're not married at 40. Grow the fuck up you pussy and stop playing video games. 40,000 years ago your ancestors ran from saber toothed tigers so you could be sitting at your desk typing. You're going to throw that all away because you smoked a bowl? Fuck you.
Is Greg Gutfeld really a prick in real life? Also I read you were a practicing Catholic, is that true? Greg is awesome in real life and a good drinker. Most successful people are. He's also really stimulating to talk to because he has a 1,000 theories about stuff. The guy has a well-thought-out opinion on everything. Yes I believe in God now. Grew up atheist with atheist parents and atheist grandparents on all side. I'm bringing' it back. I'm 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus too.
I used to be a bartender at a Knights of Columbus bar. Most of the patrons didn't remind me of you. I know. It's all blue collar guys over 70. That's what I like about it.
Shane Smith recently said in an interview that the old VICE office was extorted by a crackhead who would shit on your stoop unless you gave him a dollar every day. Did you know this wonderful man? This is a lie as is most of what he says. There was a very kind crackhead who would shadowbox outside our office and say good morning. He was a nice guy. I smoked crack with him once. There were also crack whores who would write graffiti on our stairway to their kids. It would say things like, "Mami misses you my angel. I'm coming for you soon." Pathetic.
Hi Gavin, love your work, especially your columns at Takimag. How'd you get involved with Taki? On a related note, when did newspaper opinion pages become so boring? I remember them being much more interesting-- both in the diversity of thought and in the talent of the writers-- back in the 90s. Any thoughts? I used to write for the American Conservative which Taki owned. When he started up the site I got an offer I couldn't refuse and have been there since. Kyle Smith from the NY Post had a good article recently about how comedians only make fun of poop now and won't say anything truly dangerous. Where'd everyone's balls go? It's not even that they're going to get fired. It's that they think they MIGHT get fired.
Loved the book...had to stop reading it in public because I was laughing out loud like an asshole. My question is this: Do you have any bitcoin yet? Bitcoin is like a new iPhone. You need to let them iron out the kinks for a couple years. Few more suicides and I'll jump in.
Hey Gavin, just wanted to say I listened to the HuffPo feminist debacle and was 95% on your side (I can say this without guilt, as Im a woman). The pendulum has swung way too far on the other side. Do you think it will ever be possible to get it were it should be? Well, if it doesn't, we're facing extinction. The French call it "La fin du race." Women don't want to fuck these pussy men in cardigans and flip flops. Who is going to continue the human race when balls aren't generating sperm and women are not wet?
Every time I say something like "most women would be happier at home" I get armies of male feminists telling me to go fuck myself and ten times as many women saying, "Thanks for that." I think the feminists of NYC and LA have successfully ostracized every other woman in the country.
Also, I called that woman a fucking idiot because she did the same to me. As far as I'm concerned calling someone's argument a "fantasy" and morphing your point into a straw men where they pretend you think NO WOMEN can EVER be in the workforce is the same as saying "Fucking idiot." I'm sick of letting these snarky fuckers get away with their little stabs. If they roll their eyes, you say, "Fuck you."
When do you think Perry Karamelly will stop being such a piece of shit and either return the money he stole from you, or fight you with honor? We will fight soon. He is surprisingly strong. When he kicked me down those stairs I was in the air going, "That was a good fucking kick."
When will William Randolph Hearst fight Perry Caramello? He needs to be knocked down a peg. It'll happen. WRH will get his $50. I tried to steal $50 of shit when I was at his apartment. I just grabbed a whole pile of documents from his filing cabinet. They're all totally useless crap like credit card offers.
Pretty much every gay guy I know has you on their short list of hot famous dudes. I guess this isn't a question? But good job. If the right wants to move forward and not get eaten alive by the stupid idiot left, they need to get over the gay thing.
Why is Vice so unfunny did you win humor in the divorce? I will never complain about Vice because I got a TON of cash. I'm not bananas about how they acted after and that may have been because of said amount but funny is rare. I'd say 10% of North Americans are funny (8% male and 2% female). Outside of the West, the numbers go way down. I'd say there are 37 funny people in all of China. I think they have one stand-up comedian and he's a white Canadian.
You were great on Adam Carolla's podcast this morning. Would you do your own podcast? Yes. I've recorded a bunch of episodes already and it combines celebrities with average Joes. There is no pattern with who is more interesting. So far the winners are some random lady from Harlem and Justin Theroux. I'll be ready to launch it soon.
"Are you serious?!" That's the title of this question. I have such a hard time deciphering your sarcasm from your serious comments. What's your tell? I don't believe in "trolling" or saying shit just to get a rise. It implies I give a flying fuck how you react to what I say. I may be hyperbolic and say "Women shouldn't have the vote" when what I mean is, "They tend to vote based on likeability more than policy." Basically, even my most outrageous jokes are based on truth. Tell me one where you don't think I was serious and I bet I can provide a pile of hard evidence to prove it was a totally rational thing to say.
What do you think of Toronto? Sub question: ever wish you were raising your kids in Canada? Never fuck a woman from Toronto. They are the worst lays on earth. Toronto went from being Kingston to being NYC overnight because the Separatists scared all the English there. The men regressed into hoser stereotypes but the women said, "Ok, we're URBAN now" and started dressing like teen ravers. They are phony sophisticated and wear tiny backpacks with Princess Leia buns at the age of 40. They also think anything dirty is somehow sexist so intercourse with them is egalitarian AKA boring. They don't even like it. Anyone who's read The Death of Cool will remember the chapter where the Toronto girl about to give me a hand job asks "Circles or strokes?"
Dealing with healthcare in America makes me wish I lived in Canada again. My kids are always banging something and we spend half the week in the hospital. The paperwork is a nightmare. I had to hire someone to deal with it. America needs Canada's single payer option like they have in Massachusetts (?). It's a fucking mess here.
Why do you think young folks today need to learn how to be a man? Don't listen to women. They pretend they want a beta male or someone who's "funny" but they just say that because it makes them sound empowered and sophisticated. They want a driven man who is going to protect them and make them feel safe. You don't have to be successful or handsome or rich, you just have to be ambitious. So, stop worrying about pussy and just work hard on your shit. The pussy will come from that. Like they say in Scotland, "Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves."
What's the best book you've ever read? "Confederacy of Dunces" John Kennedy Toole "Death of the West" Pat Buchanan "Redneck Manifesto" Jim Goad I love all of Ann Coulter's books. David Sedaris. I'm reading a great book now by Paul Bloom called "Just Babies." I like Mark Steyn but Jesus that guy is depressing. Greg Gutfeld's "Not Cool" is his best book so far by far. I also love graphic novels especially anything by Peter Bagge. Check out "Other Stuff" and "Everyone is Stupid Except for Me."
Two years ago you mentioned maybe doing WTF at some point. Any news on that? Thanks for the laughs. I'm doing WTF at 3PM today. I can't wait. I have a feeling it will go like Adam Carolla. We'll have a great conversation and I'll take off my shoes like I'm moving in and he'll go, "Er, what are you doing? We're done."
Are you aware of the vice is hip twitter account and if so do you approve? I saw it after Patton Oswalt reTweeted it. I thought it was funny but I got the joke after a few and didn't feel the need to follow.
What happened after the abrupt ending of the Race Wars podcast? Sherrod was pissed. He put on his backpack and left right after she stormed out. I begged them not to ban her. I thought it was funny and it's not like she connected. It made for good radio.
Were you friends with Kenny Hotz before you judged the "Who Is Cooler" episode? Also, thanks for the public urination tips. Yeah. I've known him forever. I think we met through Derrick Beckles. We talk a few times a week. He's trying to get K VS. S on Netflix. Give him some support.
Favorite neoreactionary thinkeblogger? Steve Sailer.
Gavin fellow Canadian here, loved the book How To Piss In Public. One question...do you still party and get fucked up anymore? Yes but in the day with clients. Working in advertising at this level is just getting wasted all day and trying to discuss business while you're seeing double. By the time i get home, I've sobered up a bit. I don't do drugs anymore though. Not because I don't want to but because my old ass can't handle it. God I miss cocaine. Do it while you're young kids.
Do you still take showers in less than a minute? Fuckin right. What am I going to do condition my hair? That shit makes you go bald guys. I haven't washed my hair with anything but water in about 20 years and I have the hair of Samson.
Any plans to be on the Opie & Anthony show to promote "How to Be A Man"? It would be cool to hear you on that show. I got drunk with Anthony Cumia and pulled a Carolla after where I wanted to be friends too bad after. I even said, "Let's be friends. Is that gay?" I haven't heard from him since.
In you column about Western culture the other week you said that Russia is not good at all. Can you elaborate? Have you been there? What was it like? Never been. Never will. It's cold as balls and they think death is funny. Check out the Carolla podcast where we talk about the movie Splice. It's not far after the 50:20 mark.

How do you feel about Vice's current direction? I feel like since the focus shifted from print to basically all online content - the quality has gone to shit. I live in Detroit we used to stalk down the places that had the actual print copies of Vice come in. I haven't checked anything Vice since leaving. It's like checking in on your ex-wife. As far as them being the new CNN goes, I hope they pull it off. CNN sucks as does most mainstream news. Personally, I could give two shits about the non-Western world. I'm sure most people feel the same way. Link to dailycaller.com
I heard you say somewhere that a million hits on youtube is $34,000 in ad revenue? Is that accurate? Someone told me I could have made $43k from "How to Fight a Baby" but I don't have the monetize button clicked.
Do you have a full beard right now or the longer moustache? How do you "groom" your beard in that style? Clippers on the side and leave goatee and moustache longer? Thanks to Britain, I don't have a chin. That means I have to grow a fake one out of hair. Once you start with that, you can't not have a mustache or your fucking Primus bass playing funky SoCal West Coast Custom dude.
Was there anything from your own life experiences as a "dude" that you used in your new movie "How to be a man"? Just curious.. Of course. It's 100% real. Even the dude at the gay bar insisting you flash your dick before buying the coke. It would be easier for me to list the parts of the film that AREN'T based on actual events. I think there are maybe 3. Like, my wife never threw my shoes out the window. She did hit me so hard with a roll of pictures that I occasionally see lights in my peripheral vision.
Who is one actor you've always wanted to work with? Justin Theroux. As an actor my goal is to go full retard and I'm not kidding one bit.
What was your favorite thing you grabbed from that filthy javaho's apartment? Cards that had joke ideas a la Joan Rivers but they are all TERRIBLE. I'll put them up on Street Carnage at some point. His spelling is so bad, it's like learning a new language.
What is the best advice ever given to you? Wow, that's a tough one. Lemme think.
I mean, there are so many. I try to give them back as I get them. PUSSY From "The Vice Guide to Eating Pussy": You need to take it slow. Don't just ram your cock in a bitch (unless she's wasted and gagging for it). Save all the action for the 3rd act.
CAREER Don't think. Just do. It's like stocks. You don't check in every day. Just knuckle down and poke your head up every year or so and say, "How's this working?"
FIGHTING Go for the nose.
PICKING UP CHICKS Learn bass or get a bag of coke. You don't need to do it. Just have it.
LIFE Say yes to everything. If it turns out to be really shitty, you can leave then but at least you'd have tried it out. I think I've done every job in the world.
With all of your worldly experiences, what are some of the coolest jobs you've seen/had (gold stars if they include: traveling for work and photography) ? I think writing is the funnest job there is because English is like carpentry. It's a utilitarian tool that's very practical and has infinite possibilities. Dan Harmon wrote the funniest line ever which is, "As a cop, I've seen things that would make you crap a book, on how to puke." Trying to beat that is like a fun video game. Twitter is a mini version of this challenge. Traveling and photography are probably fun for the right person but it's not my bag. As the Butthole Surfers song "22 going on 23" says, "I did all my traveling in the army."
The short answer however is "Terry Richardson."
What are your thoughts on Montreal? Is it a good idea for a young anglo guy to GTFO? How's your French? Because if you can't speak it without an accent, you're not bilingual and you'll never make enough money to raise a family.
Red Eye question: Is it me, or is Bill Shultz's replacement being similarly pigeonhole cast? I recently heard she has fictitious children and she seems to be the brunt of "'Kick Me' sign" type jokes. I'd love to grab some whisky with your brother. She's being herself. You can't do a character every night for a career.
Gavin, if you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself at the age of 20? Get everything in writing BEFORE you do the job.
Hi gavin, i already have how to piss in public and i love it,should i buy your book ''death of cool'' ? NO. Death of Cool is just the paperback. If you really loved it, you may want to check out the Audiobook. THere are actors playing roles for New Wave Hookers and the Cuba chapter and in the Punk chapter I used the actual song I'm writing about from that actual show. Also, I started crying in the 9-11 chapter while talking about Derrick's mom. Link to www.audible.com
I'm living in Scotland, in the Highlands. Right now either I look for another job in a big city or go travel the world a bit. Which is more valuable at 20 years old? Cheers! Are you up by Skelmorlie? I fucking LOVE that area by the way. Why not stay there and try to make a go of it? Make it a better place. Why does everyone have to leave? Enough with the fucking refugees. Make your hometown better!
Where is the best place to get a burger in Williamsburg? Probably DuMont but you need to try the fish sandwich at Continental. It's so spicy it burns your pee the next day. Fuck I'm craving one right now.
I've enjoyed reading your writing over the years especially the recent stuff over at Takimag. I do wonder though if you didn't live in New York, where would you want to live and why? Thanks. Tons of places. I fucking love the South and would move there tomorrow if it wasn't a microwave 6 months of the year. I love Charlotte and Austin. I like the way San Francisco is laid out. YOu never feel claustrophobic there. I like rural Scotland North West of Glasgow (fucking hate Glasgow). Utrecht, Barcelona. Victoria BC. All of China can fuck off including TaiPei. Russia can suck it. So can all of Africa. I have a place in Montezuma which is fun to visit if you don't have kids but I haven't been in 7 years because I don't want my baby to get a scorpion bite (I've had many and they fuck you up for DAYS). I love all of France especially Montmarte in Paris. German can lick my balls. I love Italy and that language is like giving your ears a blow job but the South is so fucking boring it's insane. The mafia is the only thing remotely interesting about Sicily. What else? Uh...
Come on, do Red Eye fans a favor and let us know what happened with Bill Schulz? Not my place to say.
I respect that. But what about your brother Miles McInnes? I miss his progressive point of views. Did he have a falling out with Fox News or is he coming back soon? I think Greg is sick of the characters. I love doing Miles and Jimmy. I also would like to do a really smart crusty punk and a reformed soccer hooligan.
Any advice for starting a publication in 2014? If it's print, give up.
I'm the guy who invented hipsters. Few could say this honestly. Maybe Dov Charney? Nah.
Does your ad agency need an illustrator for anything? Dunno anymore. We got bought so I'm kind of sitting there with golden handcuffs waiting to hear what we're doing tomorrow.
Where is the best place to take a poop in Williamsburg? That's a tough one. Who walks around town without their shit game already handled? Take care of it at home for chrissakes.
What are your thoughts on HBO Vice? Haven't seen it. I hear it's pretty good.
How is the relationship between you and Shane? I always got the impression you fucking hated each other. The sales guy and the content guy are supposed to have an acrimonious relationship. That's how you have good content but still pay the bills.
Did you take this photo of this wolf spider? What a neat photo. I hear those fuckers can run like 2 ft/sec. That's pretty fucking terrifying. Yes I took that. They are all show. They never bite. They have fully taken over the catskills though.
How would you describe your fashion style? As weird as it may sound I'm not ashamed to admit I try get tips of your style! My latest look is the Specials second album. Not the first where everything was perfect. The second when they were bored and just doing covers and going on vacation and shit. I call it "Grumpy casual." Like early Shane McGowan. Fitted pants (not skinny jeans), desert boots, a cardigan, with a beat up Fred Perry or something. Check out "More Specials" in Google Image or "80s Specials"
Loved How To Piss In Public. Had me in tears several times. Other than that time when you swallowed your own cum, what was the worst thing you've ever tasted? I hate Chinese food in China. Here it's wonderful because it's been Westernized but not being a vegetarian over there is like french kissing your dad. Their motto is "If it moves, it's food" and they amount of insects and turtles and dogs on their menu is enough to make you dry heave. When I was last there I didn't eat for so long my shit was just black tar.
Serious Question: Dude...I have to ask: Do you think Dana Perino is secretly a power lesbian, especially after meeting her husband? Nope. She is straight as can be. I wish she had kids though. As is often the case with these people, the one who don't do it are the ones who would have been best at it.
Did you really give yourself Gonorrhea? Yep.
Did the readership of streetboners/carnage online go down after google reader went out of business? I used to religiously check on the feed everyday, until reader went out of business... and then i found reddit, and never looked back. Interesting. I think SC readership went down when I got a real job. Right now it's a hobby. I'm just happy to be doing anything with Jim Goad.
Right on, my favorite posts by far were of BN... that shit was golden. Half the fun of the street boners site was talkin shit on the message boards, but once i found reddit, i didn't have time for your website. Although i do follow you on youtube and i bought your book. Keep on rockin!:) Ps: what'd you do w/david choe when he visited last week? Ate.
Hi Gavin, watched your movie 3 times already! Incredibly funny! What brand is the blue shirt you wear in it? Keep up the good work! Thomas Pink.
OK, just want to say, I'm a big fan. My son and I love you on Red Eye, especially when doing your Scottish character. Anywhere we can get more of that character? YouTube.
Gavin, love your book and your columns, but am genuinely creeped out by how racist many of the reader comments are on Takimag. How do you feel about your column being surrounded by readers talking about Jewish conspiracies and white supremacy? I don't see much "white supremacy" in the comments but the anti-Semitism is amusing at best and annoying at worst. We call it "people who see Jews in their sandwich." When I wrote that a big part of being successful is making sure Jews run the money, they had a conniption.
The funny thing about that state of mind is they say blacks are not culpable and always blaming other people. Then they say Jews are responsible for everything bad in the world. I thought you said you're responsible for your own lot in life. You can't have it both ways.
So yeah, the comments there can be a bummer but the comments on Thought Catalog are a bummer in the exact opposite way. They're so PC, they sound like infants.
Do you see the Big 3 becoming a reality show? If it does would you have any part in it? $50 dollars means a lot.. I would love to be involved in The Perry Project in any way possible. I don't want to discourage the fans from their campaign for a reality show but to be totally honest, I see "Windy City Heat" as way too esoteric to EVER appeal to a large audience. It's our little freak baby and only we can love it.
Gavin what happened to Bill Schulz and is Greg a real dick off screen? Both of these have already been asked.
Recommend anything to help one establish a relationship with Rooster? I had a mutual friend trying to help me but all I have had time to do has been settling in since the move to NYC from the desert. I only moved here to grow as a human/"artist" and surround myself with people better at their craft than myself. Any help or advice for the noob here to the city? Work.
Any plans on doing more standup comedy or specifically a standup special in the future? Not really.

I've heard Joe Rogan mention once or twice about a salvia trip you had in which you experienced an alternate life for quite an extensive period. I was fascinated by the tale, but have never been able to find anything more than Joe's quick mentioning of it. What happened in this alternate life? How long did it last for? What happened when you came down off the trip? Is this an experience you're willing to elaborate on for us? What happened was, I took a hit of salvia but I didn't quite take a big enough hit or I didn't hold it long enough. So it took me right to the edge of disappearing into my mind, but didn't quite get me through the barrier. So I took another hit. This time, the hit was as big as I could physically muster. It was massive. And I held it for a really long time. That hit alone would have been enough to make me obliterate my consciousness. But that hit, coupled with the one from before that got me ALMOST there put me in another place. I was in a lake in the backyard of my childhood home. But I wasn't me swimming there. I was a new being, who lived under the water. It took me a little bit of time to learn how to breath water but then I learned. And I was there for a while. I mean, like, months. At least. I estimate I was there anywhere from 4 months to 2 years. I made friends. I had a life. All underwater. At some point in my new life, I saw Sam Tripoli at the shore of the lake so I swam up to him to investigate (he was just sitting in the chair across from me in reality). That's when they started pulling me back into this existence. But what they didn't know was that I couldn't breath air any more. I had forgotten how after breathing underwater for so long. Man, that was a good trip. It looked hellish if you watch the video but what's important to understand is that the hellish part was me not wanting to leave my friends, family and life in the lake. It was just adjusting back to this reality that hurt. But the months or years I was living there were some of the most beautiful and peaceful of my life. It's kind of like that Star Trek movie where Kirk is still alive and he had been in some dimension where all your dreams come true for all moments of every day and you live outside time. And then Picard came and got him out of there and he couldn't stand to live in the world for a while. But it wasn't that bad for me.
You make me want to do drugs. Then you should do them.
Did Rogan ask you to do an AMA today because he's used to having his friends open for him? Hahahahaa.
Do you ever get tired of Rogan talking about aliens and Bigfoot? Fuck yes. All the time. All of us do.
If you think you've heard it too much, imagine what 10 years of normal conversations about it would do to you.
Uch, I'm tuning out just thinking about it.
You mentioned (either on Duncan Trussell's or Rogan's podcast) that you had been using psilocybin in low doses, regularly, and that you found it more beneficial than big mushroom trips. Would you care to share any insights or noticeable benefits that you have gained from this? Regularly doesn't mean daily or anything. I mean I take mushrooms a few times a year. Last year was a lot. Probably 5 or 6 times. At a UFC, at a show in Montreal, at a party in Montreal, camping in the woods, at a friend's house, and at the beach.
They're great for centering yourself.
Mushrooms help (me, at least) look at myself from an outside perspective. So I can analyze my actions and be properly critical of them without worrying about the negatives that come with critique.
They help me be more empathetic to most humans.
They also help me laugh and laugh and laugh. Everyone is worried about finding that super spiritual journey and realizations on mushrooms, but those trips are more rare. Even if you don't get one of those on any given trip, there's still the super fun time that shrooms will give you. I recommend them to everyone.
And if you're worried about bad trips, just know that they only last 5 or 6 hours and then you'll be fine, so the risk isn't even that bad.
Do shrooms.
Oh, I know what micro doses means now.
Duncan was taking MASSIVE doses regularly and found the fun starting to wane. When we took some for a UFC in Calgary he limited his intake for the first time in a while and just got a base going and then ate a cap or stem every 20 or 30 minutes to keep the buzz going. I think he found that method way more enjoyable and forgot that he could even have done that.
It's like not drinking 8 shots of whisky but instead drinking 2 shots, then sipping a beer every 45 minutes to keep a buzz going. This is also a good way to do shrooms. You don't have to get obliterated on every drug every time.
I'm the same way. I have to do it at least once or twice a year just to keep my shit straight. How do you function at public events? I usually do them with a few friends privately or at music festivals. Music festivals ARE public events.
It's fine. Most people don't even consider that someone around them could be on mushrooms so they, at worst, think you're weird.
As long as people don't know I'm on them, I LOVE being around people and observing.
1.) How many times have people tried stabbing or physically harming you since doing the 'Amazing Racist'? Nobody ever tried physically harming me as a result of watching the Amazing Racist. I had some physical altercations during the making of them, but never as a response.
How much of a problem was Mencia at the Store back in the day? Were you nervous joining with Joe in outing him, It seems like a lot of people were nervous about that. People weren't nervous about outing him, they were nervous about suddenly going on the record on video without having time to consider their actions and words. He had been outed among standups for years. Everybody knew he was a problem, but there wasn't anything the people profiting from him would do. A few people, like Mike Lacey, at the Comedy and Magic Club wouldn't let Mencia go there. But most clubs didn't get involved. Comedy Central, who makes their living off comedians, refused to cancel that show because they already had shot episodes and they couldn't eat that nut. And then they picked it up for another season because they don't respect the art form. They were very aware and clear on the issue but they chose to continue to put on what was making them money. So, comics had no one to turn to. Here was a person victimizing them whenever he could. Literally, hundreds, if not thousands of jokes were lifted from other comedians. So, much like segregation in the south, you just learn to live with the negative. And the Rogan Parks found a moment and Redban was there to record and something could finally be done about it.
Have you moved to Brooklyn yet? Thanks for watching the special. I'm really happy with how it came out and I want people to watch it more than anything. If you've already bought it, use your extra downloads to send to friends so they can watch it.
Are you going to be a regular in the city from now on? I haven't moved to Brooklyn, nor am I going to. I'm moving to Manhattan and I already found a place. I'm going to be there either starting the 16th of April or the 4th or 10th of May depending on a few west coast gigs and responsibilities before then.
What made you decide to move there? I AM going to be a regular in the city from now on. I'm really excited about that.
Love the new special and skeptic tank is the shit! I just want to try new stages. It's really becoming all about standup for me lately and I can get up more often when I'm in New York (at least that's the plan) and I can get new stimuli and perform for new crowds night after night. I love the Comedy Store in LA but after a while, it's the same type of crowd night to night and I want to grow as much as possible. And nothing is better for growth than change.
Does this mean you will no longer be on the JRE? I'll still be on there. When I visit LA. But way less. That's one of the negatives about moving, definitely.
Maybe we can do some from hotel rooms every once in a while when we go to UFCs together and then he can upload them later. No video, but it'll be better than nothing.
What's it like being an introvert and having strangers know almost everything about you, and they want to talk to you all the time? Uncomfortable. I'm not like Kreischer. I don't party hard. People like me prefer quiet scenarios or deep conversation about something they're interested in over loud places and lots of small talk.
But people knowing about me has sort of given me access to some of those deeper conversations. As people are aware of what I'm into, they bring those subjects up if they're interested as well. So I'm rarely talking about the weather with people who really know me. Unless it's super cold. Fuck that.
On a scale of 1 - 10 (10 = best), How does Natasha Leggero rate in the sack? She was great. Zero complaints about that. She should be proud of everything she does in that department.
For the last 2 CD's, your closing jokes have been shit jokes. and not just any shit jokes, very descriptive and picturesque shit jokes. is this a trend you plan on keeping? do you purposely fuck with your bowels to get yourself into situations like these? did bobby lee ever forgive you? Haha. Bobby HAS forgiven me. If you don't know what he's talking about, it's the last bit on my special.
And, no, I don't purposely fuck with my bowels to get into these situations. Australia was the only situation I couldn't get out of (the final story off the CD). The Bobby situation wasn't because of a fucked up rectum. It was because I enjoy revenge and I am a man of honor. Like John Stark but with poop instead of swords.
What's the highest you have ever been? There are a few times I can remember being SUPER high.
The first and second times I went to Clandestiny in Toronto. God damn, that place gets your ripped. Tons of weed in a giant hot box.
And then at SXSW 2 years ago, I had jolly ranchers from Zen dispensary on Santa Monica right when they came out and were at their most powerful. My friends Alf Lamont and Nic Adler split one and each had to call it a night because they were too high. My friend Justin Martindale took a whole one and had to be talked out of checking himself into the hospital. And I took two of them (because I didn't trust that little jolly rancher sized pot candy could get me really high) and I got so bonkers. I watched Short Circuit at Allison Dynamite's house and laughed so hard. I just couldn't stop laughing.
Did you know that the Indian guy from Short Circuit isn't even Indian. It's Fisher Stevens in makeup. And all he does is do a think Indian accent and make fun of Indians the whole time. It's so racist! But nobody gave a shit about Indians back then so who cares?
Man, I laughed hard at that. For, like, 4 hours. And then we made french bread pizza and I killed those and then I'm pretty sure we had sex. What a great night that was.
Why don't you have Dave Anthony on your fucking podcast? Hahaha. I don't know. I never see him, I guess. I do a topic based podcast so I'm more interested in things to talk about then people to talk with. What should I have him on to talk about? Besides hating Brendon Walsh. What does Dave Anthony have some sort of expertise on, or first hand knowledge of that would make me want to find out about a life experience from him? I'm open to anything.
What are your favorite strains of medical cannabis? Maui Wowie is consistently amazing. If some comes available where you are (and hopefully it's actually the strain and not some dealer just making up a name) get some.
My friend's OG Kush is my favorite for giggles and hanging out with friends. It's now being sold as Deathsquad OG by LA Speed Weed. When he works hard and puts out a good batch, it's amazing. That's what kept the Monsters of Comedy tour going when we were at each other's throat. That OG Kush from my friend.
There are others but those always do me well.
I'm sorry to be so harsh, but... come on. All that bullshit that President Bush had you say to the White House press corps... you knew it was bullshit. You must have known it was bullshit. Why did you do it? Haha. I'm so apolitical, I don't even know who you're talking about. Someone that looks like me? Some other Jew?
Why did you walk away from religion? Because I didn't believe in God.
Have you fucked another guys girlfriend/wife? Will you do it again or was it too weird? I have and I will again. I'm good at compartmentalizing and their relationship with another person has nothing to do with me and doesn't even interest me. It's like worrying about if a single woman lied to her female friend to get out of their movie night to come bone. What do I care?
Did you do this on the same day as Joe on purpose? Ha. No, I had it planned for weeks. This was just a coincidence. We had the same podcast guest on Monday, too. Also a coincidence.
Actually, can someone tell me if this is true? Has someone listened to my album that can tell me? No, it is true. I remember now. It's part of my stuff about how I like dating younger women.
Just got your special can't wait to watch! I seen you in Chicago with Joey Diaz and Front Row with Joe Rogan, you were fucking hilarious. I was proud of myself for doing all different material in those 2 Chicago shows. I did almost 50 minutes with Diaz and then on the way home I made a list of what I did and planned to do only different stuff for when I opened for Rogan a few months later. Thanks for coming to both. Isn't live standup just the greatest thing in the world to watch? Man, it's fun.
How many of your podcast guests have you slept with? Let me think. 1, 2, maybe just 2. The introvert and the artist. Oh, no. Also the shock therapy girl. So 3. Unless I'm forgetting anyone.
Has your frequency of masturbation increased or decreased with age? Decreased. I get tired now more and just want to sleep. Waking up with an unused cum rag in my bed is a sure sign of age.
When you decide to try out a new joke, are you pretty sure it's gonna be funny, or do you progressively make it funnier as you use it more often? Progressively funnier.
What's the hardest you've ever bombed? And I bombed once in front of a girl I was supposed to sleep with. That set us back 6 months and we never ended up doing it.
Do you prefer the word "taint" or "gooch" to describe the vacant lot betwee your yam sac and your mud hole? Taint. Gooch isn't as clear for everyone to know what you're talking about.
How much new material do you have worked out since PA? I got probably 20-25 new minutes since Passive Aggressive was recorded at the end of December. And then there is one bit about mushrooms at a UFC that wasn't ready to record and a story about a friend from high school asking me for help winning tickets to the Super Bowl that had to be cut from Passive Aggressive completely because it was already too long and I fucked up a middle part.
The slippery paperclip. Yeah, that's it.
I live in austin, next time you come to town what are the chances i'll get to smoke with you at some point? People ask me this a lot. The answer is "really good."
All you gotta do is wait until I'm done with the meet and greet/merch and then wait outside by the door. And then you have to light it up and pass it. That's it. I'm not buji (or however you spell that).
It'll help if you say, "Hey, I'll be outside with a j if you want to smoke when you're done saying goodbye to people."
I like pot, it's not that hard.
Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses or 1 horse sized duck? What's the environment? Inside or outside? All this matters. Is the duck-horse mad at me? Details, bro.
how much do these micro doses weigh? They're not really micro doses. I do a couple grams to an eighth of dried shrooms when I'm looking to trip.
I only do smaller doses when full doses aren't available.
I took a girl to see you the last time you were in Dallas and she said you probably an English major when you were in college and he could tell by the way you formed your sentences. Is this true? Also, the show was great. I can't wait until you come back. I was an English major. Good call.
What is your favorite pizza topping, and how many abortions have you funded? Funded 1 and got out of funding another.
And pizza depends on the mood.
When is the next hunt for the edible at mall of america? Hahah. Probably not for a while. If I do it in Minnesota again, it'll have to be around the city.
Do Acme next time, it's such a better club. For the audience anyway. I've heard that. Over and over. But the club I do there is owned by the same people who own a great club in Edmonton and they were among the first people to let me headline so I stay in business with them. But I think about it.
I think the only way I can move out of the Mall of America club is to do a small theater whenever that can happen. It's too hurtful to do Acme.
Eventually, I'll do a guest spot there, though, just to play the stage.
What is one of the best stories you have about Joey Diaz? Everything he says or does is gold. Also have you got in trouble for the hunt for the edible yet? If not we need to make this a trend at events worldwide. I've gotten in trouble, but never lasting trouble. I talked about it once on one of my podcasts and one of Rogan's. It was at the Mall of America. Rick Bronson, the owner of the club, got me out of it.
Any tips for picking up a JAP? $$$
Is Joe Rogan the same in real life as he is on the podcast? He seems like a pretty chill, knowledgable dude. P.S. you're pretty cool too. He's dreamier in real life.
How much do you think your introversion lends itself to your creativity? It helps me observe instead of live in moments. That helps me express my feelings about those moments which is what creativity is all about. So maybe a lot. But if I were the opposite, I don't know what it would do to me.
My question for you is: Do you think psychedelic drugs are for everyone? The reason I am asking you this is the following: Even though I had decided for myself that I would never try psychedelics again, listening to your podcast has made me want to give mushrooms a try. I've tried both truffels and LSD in the past, one time each. I didn't enjoy either of them. The thing is that both experiences weren't exactly in the best of circumstances. The time I tried truffels I had a serious fight with my girfriend and she was sending me spiteful and emotional texts during the trip. The time I tried LSD I had also just taken a strong extacy pill and was on the camping terrain of a major festival. The commotion was a bit much for me. My other isssue with these kind of drugs is that I have a problem letting go, and always seem to end up fighting the rush and trying to maintain control. This is a part of my personality. I have very low self esteem, which I project on other people. With other words, even though I have a lot of friends, I constantly think everyone is going to think I am a loser if I slip in even the slightest of ways. So, knowing all this, do you think mushrooms could still be a good experience for a person like me? Or should some people just stay away from them? Maybe try to do some mushrooms when you're by yourself. In your apartment (with the phone off) when you're in a decent mood.
After breakups seems like a horrible time to do them.
Don't say I got drunk at my dad's funeral and cried so now I'm done with beer.
What did you think about the movie Zombieland? Loved it. Had a girl pass out in front of me after we got concessions from two hits of weed.
Just wanted to comment that I think you're funny but you come off like an asshole most of the time you're not on stage. Are you an asshole? Just quiet.
I get the feeling you kind of expected Inappropriate Comedy to fail. Is that accurate to say or not so much? Mushrooms have helped me take myself out of situations so I can analyze them with a clear mind.
Forgetting that I'm in that movie, I couldn't imagine that type of movie would break box office records. Can we just say that.
What is the most touching moment of White Men Can't Jump to you? It must be the luck of the Irish, but I'm not Irish so go figure.
Hey ari, I'm a 17 year old white girl from Saskatchewan and I wanted to say just how fucking awesome you are, I was wondering when you started to do shrooms? Have you reached a point where it stops being beneficial? I have a variety of weird mental illnesses that I'm not sure I believe are all that valid and are just an issue of circumstance and my attitude, but I don't want to self medicate with psychedelics to a point where it stops helping me. I heard you talking on Duncan's podcast about being really depressed and shrooms helping you pull yourself out of it. Do you find that doing them still gives you better insight on your life or is it all relative to your circumstance? I think every year is a good minimum to do mushrooms. They might help with your mental illnesses. They really might. Or they might not.
My advice to you, with limited information, is to find some good friends and take them this summer away from people or danger. Canada in the summer is made for mushrooms. If it's not nice enough during shroomfest, choose another day when you have nothing to be responsible for.
Was there anything when you did "The Amazing Racist" that you weren't able to show from the footage? I was genuinely concerned that you would get shot at the laundromat. Yeah. I got punched once but he ran away without signing a release.
And I got shoved against a fence and slapped around by an Amtrak employee but he was afraid of losing his job if they showed his truck or uniform so we couldn't use that either.
And then there were a bunch of people (mostly black clerks) who didn't get the joke and wouldn't sign the release.
The homeless guy and one of the Mexicans wouldn't sign either but we took a chance and used the footage anyway.
Do you smoke with guests on your show pretty often? Any interesting cases where a guest couldn't handle it? Look at the Reep and Heffron episode. We smoked halfway through and it completely changed after we took that break.
But if you really want to see someone who couldn't handle it, listen to me once in a while. I sometimes lose a lot of focus once pot gets involved. I'll find it again most of the time, but it makes for a good meander.
I listen to YKWD podcast by Robert Kelly who's out there in Manhattan, every listened to it? Been a guest on there before? If not you should get on there it'd be cool. I did a two parter with him from the Ottawa Bluesfest a few years ago.
I have never done had any psychedelic experiences and I don't know if I ever will, but if I do, what is your best advice for beginners? Shroomfest primer. Link to www.arishaffir.com
Do you believe men, in general are funnier than women? Yes.
In the movie Life of Pi, what actually happened? Was Pi on a boat with humans or animals? It was about math and nobody understood it.
If you could compete in one American Gladiators event, which one would it be? Is taxes one of the events?
Have the TSA said anything to you personally or treated you different since you came out against them ? No, but I'm assuming they will. They're a crooked organization and they have to answer to no one. So why wouldn't they try to fuck over the people that criticize them? You think you could mock a king and get away with it? You can do that to a Senator because he can get voted out if he abuses his power. Same doesn't go for the TSA because they have the government's backing with none of the checks.
Aside from NYC, what's the best city to live in to get the most spots as an open miker or someone who wants to take the next step in comedy? I think LA, but it's a really non-nurturing place to start comedy. The open mics I used to do in LA were bad. 6 people watching or less, always comedians never real people.
I would've been better served to start in another city and then move after a couple years of heavy comedy lifting.
Did your amazing racist videos help get your foot in the door of comedy, or were you already at a level that it didn't really help or hurt you? I was low enough where it didn't really hurt of help too much. A little on either side. Mostly people laughed and were afraid to do anything with it.
Ari for the longest time I've been curious to how your experience going to a UFC event on a psychedelic was. How was it? It's in my standup. Come see me live or get the special after this one when it comes out in 13 months.
When it comes to comedy, when someone is writing for you whether its a movie or TV, what type of jokes do you like? Or kind of characters do you like playing or would like to? Just started writing specs and pilots and im always looking to try new things. No one writes material for me. But if it's for acting, I like stuff that sounds normal. Stuff I can get into. Funny things I can make funnier. I don't like overly sketchy and broad things but some people do.
How often do you get people buying the $500 basketball date night with are and a bro from ypur website? Those must be pretty interesting? Only one for the Shabbos dinner. Nobody has taken up the game night yet. I'm still open to it. Yankee games would be sweet after May starts.
Hey Ari. I gave you a hip hop cd last Friday in Vancouver. Did you get a chance to listen? Do you ever hold on to random shit fans give you? thanks. ty. The other comic listened to his. I'm not really into hip hop so it didn't make me feel drawn to putting it in.
Favorite standup moment? Favorite podcast moment? The word 'favorite' is too exclusive for me. I don't like using it.
I've listened to your podcast off and on and at times you mentioned you lived in Israel for awhile. Was that part of your adolescence or was it when you were a young adult? Also if you have anymore stories about your experience it would be awesome to hear. 18-20 years old.
Hey ari! Great podcast, sorry I missed you in Vancouver last weekend. You talk occasionally about eating a bullet when life doesn't fancy you anymore; are you a Camus style absurdist? Or a straight up nihilist? Camus is a hero of mine.
Hey Ari! Now that you're moving to Manhattan, are there any East Coasters you're looking to have on Skeptic Tank that you couldn't get while living in LA? PA and Revenge were awesome by the way. Keep it up! Norton, Anthony Cumia, Susan Cain, Rachel Simmons, my friend from Israel, lots.
What band(s)/musicians are you really into right now? Band of Skulls. Lumineers. That's just right now.
Here's my Shroomfest Primer. It's available for anyone who is thinking about taking mushrooms but has questions. It covers everything I think anyone would want to know. Link to www.arishaffir.com. And share that with people. Let everyone get the experience.
I work for the TSA and I swear to god my finger will go up your ass one day. I'm sure it will. Everyone who works for that bureaucracy will eventually be tempted to abuse their privileges when they realize how nearly impossible it is to lose their jobs.
For anyone who wants to hear my opinions on the TSA in a well spoken manner and in a funny setting, here is the podcast I did on it with Duncan Trussell. It gets going on the subject maybe halfway or a thirdway into the conversation.

It's mostly not real. Dave and Brendon have a fake hate relationship on Twitter. Brendon does it with a lot of people. The Deathsquad thing was just a disagreement between two people, nothing else. Yeah, people just fake twitter hate Brendon. He mostly starts it. It's a fun game.
Ahh I just meant yesterdays episode, couldn't find it. I think that joke was on my CD, Revenge for the Holocaust. (which you can get a signed hardcopy of for $20 and free shipping along with my special right now at Chill.com/ari. That's 20 bucks for a CD and a digital special. Completely different material on each.
*Edit: His second response was in reference to a Vaginal Grenade joke i was looking to hear again. Anything I did in my past that I feel bad about is faced and changed in me. Anything that I feel bad about now, I either stop doing because I have to admit it, or I learn to not feel bad about it and I keep doing it. Hiding from who you are doesn't help you. Learning about your desires does.
I don't have a question, I just want to remind everybody that Shroomfest is on June 22, 23 & 24. Powerful psilocybin. ~edit~ date corrected. Shroomfest is JUNE 22, 23 and 24, 2013. Not July. It changes dates every year. Part of the Mat Edgar clause.
It takes place on the Sat-Mon over the summer (not including early September) that has the most moonlight. This year it's that weekend.
"2014 Shroomfest is August 9, 10, & 11. 2015 Shroomfest is August 29. 30, & 31. 2016 Shroomfest is June 18, 19, & 20. If the full moon is on a Saturday or Sunday night, that’s ideal."
That's an excerpt from my Shroomfest Primer which I recommend anyone who is thinking about taking shrooms read.
